According to the Hindu however, work is being done to provide the device with solar panels which would effectively raise its cost, but certainly assist with energy supply issues in areas where electricity is scare.
Other sources have also confirmed that the device will be running on a Linux based system, which, if we look at the pictures, looks like an Android OS (probably v1.6). Further confirmation also states that it will come loaded with up to 22GB of internal flash storage.
The device is, as we’ve mentioned, is designed for higher education institutions and is expected to be available for that sector sometime in 2011. The idea is of course to reduce the pricing from $35 (Rs. 1600) to possibly as low as $10 (Rs. 480).
